Condolence: Janie, Pansy, Everett, Norman and the families
Hard to explain how I felt after hearing that George had passed away. I felt a great hate toward cancer; a deep sadness over losing another good friend and a real sorrow for not being able to be around to share with you in sadness. We are a long ways from you in time and distance but our heart and prayers are right there with you. I still call George one of my best friends even though it has been a while since we talked or saw one another. But that's how good friends are - whenever you talked or met you could pick up right where you left off. George was a phenomenal person. He didn't ask for much out of life - a family, a comfortable homes, a scattered beer and a pack of Export A. He was always so steady and dependable not one bit judgemental and a sense of humour that came through when it was needed most. We hunted together, fished in Hardys Cove with Norman a good many times, played a lot of darts and most of all a good game of cards.i can still see and hear his knuckles hit the table when he joyfully put his five down on Norman's Jack. All in good fun and shared over a few India Beer. Just before we left Harbour Breton we had a big party with a fair size crowd. Most were gone home by five in the morning but George and myself were still sipping. George got sick and was throwing up in the toilet when the seat came down around his neck. He looked at Pat and said " I heard of ring around the collar but this is ridiculous" . Never a dull moment with George. What a buddy!
Another time he spoke about a fellow who was so tight with his money that he could pave Bay D'Espoir road with a can of potted meat.
Janie when I talked to you yesterday you told me how George handled having terminal cancer and how he was more concerned about everyone else than himself. He always did! That's why so many loved and respected George. He was the most unselfish man I ever met. He left his mark on this world with the small things of life but they were in fact just as big as any great statesman could do.
I pray that God will give all of you peace in these days and the ones to come. George's suffering is over and he is at peace. God Bless!

Condolence: Janie and Family, so sorry for the loss of such a kind and quiet man. I'm sure you all have great memories to share with each other. We played darts and went to dances with George, Janie, Reg and Sandra years ago and we use to do so much laughing. He was quite the charmer. Take care of each other and remember that he loved you all so much. Hugs
