Rosabelle Rita Vivian (nee Goods) was born to John and Mary Goods on November 3, 1978. The youngest of 8 who was unexpected, but soon became the most loved and spoiled of all as she was the baby of the family.

Left to mourn is her biggest supporter, her everything that she waited a long time for: her husband Roy; step-daughter, Courtney (AJ) and grandchildren, Joshua and Leah; the people who made her who she was, her brothers: Wayne (Cindy), Robert (Lillian), Brian (Marlene), Rodney (Sarah), Colin (Yvonne), and her sisters who made up the debate team when they were together but loved unconditionally: Ada(Donald) and Roberta (affectionately called Bert); Father and Mother in law: Lester and Marjorie Vivian. Brothers in law: Darrel (Erin), Andre (Rachel) and Sister in law: Maxine (Jim). Her maternal family: Jerry (Rosalie) King, Redmond (Joyce) King, special Aunt Linda King; Paternal family: Clayton (Mildred) Goods and Melita Goods; Nephews and nieces by name, but some of her closest friends and treasures: Donny(Jodie) Rose, Kayla Rose, Maggie (Jamie) Peinsznski, CJ Goods, Sarah and Cate Vivian and one very precious great nephew and Godson Jace Rose. Several step nieces and nephews with whom she had a great relationship from a very early age: Ernie (Jill), Melissa (Nick), Donny (Shelley), Rob (Annette), Chris and Nadine (Farhon).

Raised to become independent beyond words, determined to accomplish whatever she set her mind to and continuing the family trait of being stubborn, she never ever forgot where she came from and Hermitage was always home!

Her Dad, the man who spoiled her beyond measure, passed away suddenly when she was still in high school and despite the struggle she had accepting his death, she persevered, became the only child of 8 to finish high school and went on to get herBachelor of Business Administration Degree at St. Francis Xavier University and wore her X Ring with insurmountable pride! Her Mom Mary was her life and although Rose
wasn’t living in Hermitage, her plans and days always put her Mom first and Mom would listen to her for hours on the phone everyday, often in silence with no response but always agreeing with Rose over everyone else.

Upon graduation from University, Rose got a temporary position with the Office of the Fire Commissioner where she received phenomenal mentorship and continued on with a 13 year career that saw her flourish as a leader in emergency management throughout the province. The staff of this office led by then Fire Commissioner Fred Hollett became a whole new family for Rose.

Rose had her own life well set with a home in Grand Falls-Windsor, but there was one missing piece. In 2011, at 31 years of age, that missing piece was found as she met the love of her life, was married in 2013 and moved to Fort McMurray. Less than a month later, Rose secured a job with Emergency Services with the City of Fort McMurray. Her and Roy shared a passion for work and the rewards it can bring. They built a new home, traveled and were “living the dream”. Rose always said if she died without playing the accordion, she’d die unhappy. Roy made sure she got one as her wedding gift from him. Whether or not she could play it depended on who was listening. Mom would always listen and not say a word.

Things changed in 2017 when she was involved in a MVA on the Bay D’Espoir highway that resulted in her being paralyzed from the waist down. Everyday, every week and month of in-patient hospital time; 168 days straight to be exact, followed by weeks and trips back to the Glenrose Rehab Centre in Edmonton was bringing Rose one step closer to moving back to NL to do contract work. A challenge that would have stopped so many, once again saw her determination to overcome any barriers of being in a wheelchair and through sheer grit and stubbornness, she regained her independence to the point of living alone while Roy worked away. Looking back, she’d say that was an easy fight! With her modified van she could drive wherever she wanted and undertook many hobbies like crafts and quilting to help pass time. But, talking was her favourite pastime. Whoever’s at the gate will need lots of time on their hands if she tries to talk her way in! That was the one thing that remained consistent in her life, her passion for people and talking. She could talk for hours about anything and always made sure she had the last word.

Unfortunately, cancer was different. Every day and trip to the hospital was bringing her one step closer to the end. Fighting a losing battle and not being in control was harder on Rose than anyone will ever know.

Visitations was held on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3 at St. Saviour's Anglican Church, Hermitage from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm both days.

Funeral Service was held on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 2:00pm at St. Saviour's Anglican Church, Hermitage with Rev. Jonathan Durdle officiating.
