Obituary for
William Gerald Strowbridge
In a season that focuses and treasures the gift of family, we, as a family, are deeply saddened to announce that William Gerald Strowbridge, age 77 years, of Hr. Breton, NL, passed away on Saturday, December 17th, 2016, at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Martha, of 55 years. He was blessed with 4 wonderful children; Marie, Gerald, Helena (Clem Ryan) and Wade (Raylene). His pride and joy were his 6 grandchildren; Wendy, Kimberley, Rocky, Santana, Brandon and Jenna. Also, he was blessed with 3 great grandchildren; Macey, Leland and Brock.
Bill was a devoted family man who cared and supported his family whenever needed. His love for life and his community led him to be an active member of the Harbour Breton Lions Club. Being a hardworking man all his life, Bill enjoyed keeping busy after his retirement with volunteering, wood cutting, clearing the snow and berry picking in the summer. All of those who knew Bill will acknowledge the blessing to have known him and he will be missed by all.
Bill is predeceased by his son, Gerald, and his parents, Beatrice and Leo Strowbridge.
Funeral Service took place on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 2:00 pm from St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church at Harbour Breton with Rev. Juanita Freeman officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Breton.
At this time the family would like to thank the Nurses at the Cancer Clinic at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center and the Nurses at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Center in Harbour Breton, and, to all who showed their concern during his short battle with cancer.
