Obituary for Margaret Christina Ryan (Hillier)

Passed peacefully away at her home in St. John’s on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in the presence of her loving family, Margaret Christina Ryan, age 79 years.

Predeceased by her husband Clem; parents, Elizabeth and Albert Hillier; brothers: Arthur and Tom Hillier; sisters: Ann and Elizabeth Hillier Peters; sister Mary and brother-in-law, Louis Hodder; brothers-in-law: Harold Skinner, Martin Parrott and Reginald Cox; nieces: Mary Harris and Mary Louvelle; friend, Sharon Oliver; and best friend, Olive Hickey.

Leaving to mourn with precious memories are her partner of 23 years, Peter Oliver; her children: Clem (Helena), Art (Lisa), Shirley (Brent), John (Valerie), Debbie (Kev); grandchildren: Leslie (Jamie) Blake, Santana (Nick), Louis (Sara), Maryann (Richard), Brandon (Steve), Casandra (Coji), Ryan (Emily), Madison, Carson, Luke, Jaxon, A.J., Marcia; 2 special great-granddaughters: Macey Ryan and Aniya Hiopia; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 11am-9pm.

Visitation continued in her hometown of Harbour Breton on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 & 25, from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass was held from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Harbour Breton, on Monday, September 26, at 10:30am, with interment you following at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charitable Foundation - St. John’s chapter.
