Passed peacefully away at the Connaigre Peninsula Community Health Center in Harbour Breton on January 7, 2021, Mrs. Patricia Hickey (nee Farrell) of St. Jacques at the wonderful age of 90.

Leaving to mourn her loving family: daughters, Dorothy (Stephen) of Ottawa and Frances of St. Jacques; sons, Kevin (Madeline) of Paradise, Don (Karen) of Torbay and John (Michelle) of Bridgewater, NS; six grandchildren, Marsha, Shannon (Brad), Christopher (Gabbriell), Connie, Jessica (Michael) and Kayla (Mike); great grandchildren, Desmond, Skylar, Remi and Charlotte; sister, Genevieve of Sydney, NS; brother, Alphonse (Viola) of Halifax, NS; as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Predeceased by her husband, Patrick (2011); parents, Thomas and Frances Farrell; brothers, Kevin, Gerald, Dave and Pat; sisters, Eileen and Alice; as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Mom was born in Baie Du Nord, November 21, 1930, to Teacher Tom and Frances Farrell and lived her adult life in St. Jacques where she raised five (5) children of whom she was extremely proud. Rest in Peace, Mom and we will miss you.

The family would like to thank her long term caregiver, Martha Jane Keeping, for her excellent care and friendship over the years. Our special thanks to the nurses and support staff at the Harbour Breton Hospital for their kindness and compassion shown to our mother.

Mrs. Hickey rested at Spencer’s Funeral Home, Harbour Breton with visitation on Sunday, January 10 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm with strict COVID regulations in place. Funeral service took place on Monday, January 11 at 11:00 am in Spencer’s Funeral Home Chapel, Harbour Breton with Father David Joy officiating. Interment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery, St. Jacques.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Parish for the St. Jacques Cemetery fund.
