Obituary for Evelyn Durnford (LaFosse)

It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Durnford (Nee LaFosse) announce her passing at the Health Science Complex on February 22, 2018 in St. John’s, NL at the age of 69.

Evelyn is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Riley Durnford; Children, Kimberly (Charles) Courtney, Jack (Tina) Durnford, Cathy (Jason) Greene; Grandchildren, Alexandra (Patrick) MacDonald, Sarah (Liam) Courtney, Jackie (Jesse) Durnford, Marcus Durnford, Daniel Greene and Peter Greene. Great grandchildren, Alice Flynn, Riley MacDonald, Harmony Durnford and Novah Durnford; Siblings, Roy (Violet) LaFosse and Philip (Rosemary) Durnford; Step-siblings, Alexander (Shirley) Durnford, Jack Durnford and Sadie MacLellan; Step-sister in law Eileen Durnford; In-laws, Linda Blagdon, Elizabeth (Hedley) LeDrew and Cyril Durnford; and a large circle of family & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James LaFosse, Bertha Hardy LaFosse Durnford and Step-Father John Phil Durnford; Father in Law, John Robert Durnford, Mother in law, Ruth (Andrews) Durnford; Step-Brother, Eric Durnford, In laws, Dave Blagdon, James Gordon Durnford, Dora Durnford, Ralph Durnford, Jack Durnford.

Evelyn was born on March 23rd, 1948 in Francois to Bertha & James LaFosse. Born & raised in Francois, Evelyn married Riley Durnford on January 4th 1968 and raised three children. On July 1st 2012 Evelyn & Riley moved to Burgeo. She was an active member of the Church and was a devote child of God.

Viewing took place at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church in Hermitage on Sunday 2-4 PM and 7-9PM, Monday 2-4 PM with a celebration of life ceremony at 7 PM. Her funeral took place on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church in Hermitage. Reverend Hubert Vallis officiated the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Evelyn's life.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, caregivers and volunteers at James Paton Memorial Regional Hospital, Daffodil Place and Health Science Centre.

The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
