Obituary for Albert Edward Loveless

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Albert Edward Loveless of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre at Harbour Breton on January 5, 2018 at the age of 66. He was surrounded by the members of his loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves with many fond memories the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Ruby, children June (Dennis Mayo) and Sandra (Matt Riggs), and 4 grandchildren Jordan, Jaxon, Addison and Carly. He also leaves behind three sisters Leona Rideout (Freeman), Myrtle Loveless (Hubert) and Lily Hiscock (Steve), sisters in law, Margaret Langdon (Oliver), Ada Newport (Ellison), and Carolann Langdon (Perry), brothers in law, Willie Loveless (Winnie), Leo Loveless (Rudy), Roy Loveless (Edith), Wilson Loveless (Sabrina), and Perry Loveless (Wanda), his many nieces and nephews, and a large circle of friends, especially his closest friend, Ken Loveless.

Albert is predeceased by his mother Effie, father Joshua, mother in law Dorothy, and father in law Benjamin.

Albert completed his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Memorial University and his Master of Arts in Teaching from St. Francis Xavier University. He taught math for 30 years and helped shape many lives. After retiring from teaching, he continued to work and was employed with Statistics Canada, in the oil fields and most recently, with Quin-Sea Fisheries Ltd.

Albert loved to volunteer in his community. He was a member of the Fire Brigade for 22 years, president of the Conher Development Association for 18 years, and Mayor of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay for the past 2 years. Throughout his life, he was an active member of the Salvation Army Corps.

He was an avid gardener and loved berry picking, moose hunting and trouting. He enjoyed telling stories of his many hunting trips.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the compassion shown to Albert and his family by the nurses at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre and at the Cancer Clinic in Grand Falls-Windsor.

All are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Albert’s life at the Salvation Army Church in Seal Cove, Fortune Bay. Visitation took place Friday night, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning. The funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Church on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Aux. Captains Randy and Diane Kirby officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Seal Cove.

“God looked around his garden
And found an empty space.
He then looked down upon this earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best.”
