Life Story for Blanche Jackman
Blanche was born at Grole, Hermitage Bay, on August 19th, 1926. It was there at the age of nineteen, she met and married the love of her life, Joseph Jackman. Over the years they raised a family of sixteen children-- ten daughters and six sons--all of which they both were extremely proud.
With such a family it meant Blanche spent many long hours day after day lovingly taking care of their needs. Every day bread had to be made and on Saturdays two batches were made-Sunday was a sacred day for Blanche and no work was to be done. As well, many hours were spent scrubbing the children’s clothes on the scrub board and drying it on the clothes line. It was all done with joy and commitment out of deep love for her family. In her later years, Blanche’s greatest passion was her love for her garden. She grew beautiful flowers that attracted the attention and praise of her neighbors and many ‘passer-bys’ on their daily walks. Blanche was an honorary member of the ACW being a faithful member for 74 years.
Thank you, Mom, for being there for us.
